The removable plastic circular unit that houses the ceramic balls and the removable metal plate (both located inside the shower head) need to be cleaned every few months. To clean, mix 3 oz vinegar and 7 oz tap water into a medium size bowl and swish the ceramic balls unit and the plate around for 2 minutes, then rinse thoroughly and re-assemble. This process extends the life of the device far beyond that of a self contained unit. The ceramic balls and the shower head plate must be cleaned on a regular basis to avoid possible damage caused by a sediment build-up from your water.
